Most personal sites don’t need a design system. A max-width column, good line-height, two fonts, and two themes get you 95% there.

Rules I used here:

1. One .wrap container, 42rem max
2. Serif for prose, sans for UI
3. One accent color, everything else gray
4. Dark mode via CSS variables + prefers-color-scheme

Less JS, faster pages, easier to keep writing.
